What's the difference between male and female sparrows?
Male and female house sparrows are generally the same size as each other. And both can be seen businly bring food to their youngsters. However, they have very different colouring.
Male house sparrows are distinguishable by their brown heads which are topped by a grey cap. The females have a paler brown head.
The males have rich chestnut brown wings whereas the females have a paler brown back.
Males have black around their eyes and the females have a light brown eye stripe.
Males have a white throat and black bib while the female's chest and belly is a uniform pale brown.
